When the little things become the big things

Thursday, March 15th, 2012

Many years ago I went on a fishing trip with some of my closest friends.  With great anticipation we made the plans, got the gear together and headed out.  When we arrived at the fishing spot the wind was blowing so hard that we couldn’t fish.  We passed the first few hours inside the camper playing games and enjoying each others’ company.  But, as the hours passed we became more and more uneasy until we reached the point were playing games was a chore, and we began to pick at each other.  What was happening?  Why were we so excited to fish and then getting on each other?  The answer I found was simple.  When fisherman don’t fish they pick on each other, argue and make little piles into huge mountains.  Does that ring a bell?  When you are frustrated and quick to make a little thing into a big thing, could it be that you are not doing what you were put on this earth for?  I have found that when I am worrying about what other people are doing it is because I am not doing what I was put on this earth for.  When I am doing the things that meet the call on my heart I let small things go and I focus on me and what I am doing.  I just wanted to help you think about doing what you were put on this earth for.  I believe that when you focus there the other things don’t matter so much.
